How to detect and remove a hardware keylogger
Hardware keyloggers are small devices about the size of an AA battery that come inline in-line with your keyboard as you can see in the image below. Such a device is used to log everything you are typing while writing emails, chat messages, passwords, etc.
These devices are used by companies to monitor employees, private investigators looking for evidence, or really serious identity thieves who want to keep track of what you do on your computer.
The removal of such devices is quite simple.
Removal of a hardware keylogger
Make sure you follow these steps carefully:
1. Power off your computer. Do nto attempt while your computer is running!
2. Disconnect the keyboard from your computer.
3. Remove the keylogger device/adapter.
4. Plug the keyboard directly back into the computer. Make sure that it is plugged in completely, and be gentle as the connectors are somewhat fragile.
5. Turn your system back on!
That’s it!
