Insecure.Org has released in 2006 a survey password crackers tools and 3,243 people responded. Respondents were allowed to list open source or commercial tools on any platform. According to the survey, the most efficient tools for password cracking were:

4. Aircrack : The fastest available WEP/WPA cracking tool

   Aircrack-ng is an 802.11 WEP and WPA-PSK keys cracking program that can recover keys once enough data packets have been captured.

   L0phtCrack is a password auditing and recovery application (now called LC5), originally produced by Mudge from L0pht Heavy Industries.
